In a significant event that strengthens the legitimate position of the Libyan government and its communication with brotherly and friendly countries to serve the interests of Libya and its people, and following his visit weeks ago to the Arab Republic of Egypt, where he was received by the Egyptian Prime Minister, the Prime Minister of Libya, Dr. Osama Hamad, paid a fraternal visit to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. During this visit, he was received at the presidential palace in the capital Nouakchott by His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Republic and the current President of the African Union.
President El Ghazouani welcomed the Libyan Prime Minister, thanking him for his visit to the brotherly Libyan people and acknowledging the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, wishing Libya peace, stability, and prosperity, rooted in the Libyan people’s heritage, origins, and connection to their land, nation, religion, civilization, and roots.
The President of Mauritania expressed his gratitude for the invitation extended to the Libyan Prime Minister to visit Benghazi and meet with the general leadership of the Armed Forces, the Libyan House of Representatives, and the Libyan Government for dialogue, consultation, and cooperation with the African Union in achieving a political solution and comprehensive national reconciliation. He emphasized the deep historical relations between his country and Libya, as a founding member of both the Arab Maghreb Union and the African Union, and highlighted the importance of documenting and implementing the scheduled agreements between the two countries in the fields of economy, investment, and joint ministerial committees.
For his part, the Libyan Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the President of Mauritania for the warm reception and hospitality, conveying the thanks and appreciation of the Libyan people, the general leadership of the Armed Forces, led by Marshal Khalifa Abulqasem Haftar, and the President and members of the Libyan House of Representatives, for their efforts to strengthen fraternal relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries at the Arab, Maghreb, and African levels.
The Libyan Prime Minister also extended his sincere congratulations to the President of Mauritania for earning the trust of the Mauritanian people for a second presidential term after free and fair elections, emphasizing that the Libyan Government is committed to strengthening relations between the two countries in all aspects and implementing treaties, agreements, and memorandums of understanding.
