Ukraine launched a new overnight drone offensive against Russian territory, hitting at least 18 regions, as well as Crimea and areas of the Black Sea, according to Russian authorities and media outlets from both countries.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had intercepted and destroyed 592 fixed-wing drones. Despite that figure, local authorities reported damage to several facilities and injuries among civilians.
In the Rostov region, the attack damaged the Novoshakhtinskaya oil refinery, forcing it to temporarily suspend operations. Industrial facilities in Perm were also targeted, while the Iskra military plant in Ulyanovsk was hit, leaving eight people injured, including a minor.
Voronezh was also affected. The Voronezhsintezkauchuk factory, which produces materials used in tire manufacturing, sustained damage, and at least four people were injured, according to regional authorities.
The latest offensive once again highlights the expanding use of drone attacks against infrastructure far from the main front lines. Russia, meanwhile, continues its own air operations against targets in Ukraine as the war continues without a clear path toward de-escalation.
