In a bid to promote reconstruction and development in the city of Darna, Libyan Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hamad inaugurated a series of vital projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and preserving the region’s cultural heritage.
Among the major initiatives is the Al-Naqa Valley Biological Bridge, constructed by the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund. Built to the highest international standards, the bridge connects both banks of the Darna Valley, linking the eastern and western parts of the city. This infrastructure will significantly ease citizen transit and improve local connectivity.
Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art building equipped with advanced technology for the Darna Security Directorate, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring safety and order in the region.
Another highlight of the day was the reopening of the historic Sahaba Mosque, an iconic landmark in Darna. The mosque underwent extensive restoration and maintenance, reaffirming its importance as a cultural and religious symbol for the city.
The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, along with members of both the House of Representatives and the State Council, who participated in the Council’s first session in Darna. Also present were the General Manager of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Belqasem Haftar, as well as ministers, officials, civil and military leaders, academics, and local activists.
During his visit, Dr. Hamad reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing projects that improve citizens’ quality of life, preserve national heritage, and stimulate economic development. This series of inaugurations marks a new chapter for Darna, representing a significant step towards its reconstruction and revitalization after years of challenges.
