The Libyan Armed Forces this week showcased a new display of coordination and operational capability during military maneuvers considered strategic for reinforcing the image of national unity in Libya. The event was marked by explicit support for the leadership of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, whose allies continue to present him as one of the main pillars of stability in eastern and southern Libya.
During the exercise, Deputy Commander-in-Chief Saddam Haftar praised the high level of readiness, discipline, and efficiency demonstrated by the participating units, emphasizing that the deployed forces had reached “the highest levels of preparedness and capability to carry out multiple missions.” In his speech, he also conveyed “greetings and recognition” to Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, describing him as a key figure in the process of military reorganization and a guarantor of cohesion within the armed forces.
The maneuvers brought together contingents from various regions of the country at a particularly sensitive moment for Libya’s political landscape, still marked by institutional fragmentation and difficulties in reaching a definitive solution after years of internal conflict. Officials close to the Libyan National Army continue to stress the need for a strong and unified military structure as an essential element for preserving stability and combating extremist threats.
Saddam Haftar also expressed gratitude to officers, soldiers, and military commanders for the “discipline and precision” shown throughout the operations, affirming that the armed forces renew their commitment to “the unity of Libya and the defense of the Libyan people.” He further paid tribute to those who lost their lives in battles against terrorist organizations, referring to the military campaigns carried out in recent years under the command of Field Marshal Haftar.
The military display comes amid growing international concern over security in North Africa and Libya’s political future, where rival power structures continue to coexist. While the international community keeps calling for institutional progress and a consensual political roadmap, Khalifa Haftar’s military leadership remains highly influential across large parts of the country and continues to position itself as a central actor in any future stability scenario.
