This award comes just three weeks after the president of LoroParque collected
theTribune Award for business excellence and adds to the long list of recognitions
Wolfgang Kiessling, president of the LoroParque Company, collected at the Guimerá Theater the prestigious Taburiente Prize, awarded by the Diario de Avisos Foundation and which recognizes its excellence in business development. At the award ceremony, he was surrounded by other great personalities from the artistic and cultural world, from the scientific field and from public life, also awarded for being an example both in the professional and personal fields.
In 1972, Wolfgang Kiessling launched what would become one of the most important zoos in the world: LoroParque, internationally known, the engine of tourism in Tenerife and a must for those who come to the island. The Park has become a unique product, which combines a world of leisure, a research and reproduction center for highly protected species and a continuous work of teaching and dissemination on the need to protect animals and the environment, where they should develop if it were not constantly threatened by the hand of man.
By 1994, the parrot collection had exceeded 2,000 specimens. Considering it necessary to protect its great scientific value, since it had more than 330 species and subspecies, and its enormous living genetic potential, Wolfgang Kiessling delivered this collection to a non-profit foundation. LoroParqueFundación, which was recognized as being of public interest by resolution of the Ministry of Education and Science of Spain and has allocated, to date, more than 23 million US dollars to projects as relevant as the study and protection of the ocean that surrounds to the Canary archipelago.
In 2006, Wolfgang Kiessling was named adoptive son of both the city of Puerto de la Cruz and the island of Tenerife and in his long business career he has received multiple recognitions and awards thanks to LoroParque, such as the Gold Medal of Merit. Tourist from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Spain, the Gold Medal of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Gold Medal of the Island Council of Tenerife. LoroParque has also won the Prince Felipe of Asturias Award for Business Excellence.
Siam Park, Poema del Mar, Hotel Botánico and Brunelli's Steakhouse are other examples of excellence in business development.
