Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on Sunday about the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukraine, which this week have exceeded 2,780 drones and guided bombs, causing casualties and significant damage in several cities, including the capital, Kyiv.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of international support and called on the United States to impose stronger sanctions on Moscow, following the announcement of the EU’s 19th sanctions package. “Europe is doing its part; now we expect the United States to act firmly,” he said.
On Saturday, Russian forces launched more than 500 drones and 40 missiles against Ukrainian targets, leaving at least three dead and 36 injured. Local authorities confirmed the destruction of vehicles and damage to civilian infrastructure, while Ukrainian air defense systems continued intercepting some attacks.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated his willingness to support the defense of Poland and the Baltic states if Russia escalates its incursions. This comes after Russian MIG-31 fighter jets violated Estonian airspace for twelve minutes, adding to recent incidents in Poland and Romania.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine continues to dominate the international agenda, with nightly exchanges of drones and missiles keeping Ukrainian forces and their European and U.S. allies on high alert, while diplomatic pressure on Moscow intensifies.
