Libya’s Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, arrived in the Ethiopian capital this Wednesday to take part in high-level meetings organized by the African Union (AU). His visit aims to strengthen regional cooperation and address priority health issues across the continent.
Upon his arrival, Abu Janah was welcomed by Mohamed Adam Lino, Libya’s representative to the AU, along with several officials from the Libyan Embassy in Ethiopia. Libya’s participation in this forum is part of ongoing efforts to build more efficient healthcare systems and foster greater integration among African nations, especially as the continent faces significant health challenges.
During the sessions, the Libyan minister will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from various countries to explore new collaborative initiatives. These discussions will focus on enhancing emergency response capacities and promoting equitable access to healthcare services.
The African Union has emphasized the need for greater cooperation among its member states to tackle challenges such as pandemics, access to essential medicines, and the strengthening of hospital infrastructure. In this context, Abu Janah’s presence reinforces Libya’s commitment to the continental health agenda and the development of strategic partnerships to advance the sector.
The outcomes of these meetings are expected to lay the groundwork for new public health policies in Africa, focusing on disease prevention and improving the quality of medical care.
