El pasado lunes por la noche, manifestantes furiosos salieron a la calle y se congregaron frente a una de las casas del primer ministro del Gobierno de Unidad Nacional, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, en la calle Al-Shatt de la capital, Trípoli, tras las declaraciones de la ministra de Asuntos Exteriores destituida, Najla Al-Mangoush, sobre su reunión con el ex ministro de Asuntos Exteriores israelí Eli Cohen en Roma en agosto de 2023.
Otras protestas contra Dbeibah se vieron en la ciudad de Misrata, exigiendo su destitución, después de que Al-Mangoush vinculara su reunión con el ministro israelí a la aprobación y organización del gobierno.

En una entrevista transmitida por la plataforma 360 de Al Jazeera, Al-Mangoush dijo que la reunión se produjo después de «contacto y coordinación entre la parte israelí y el Gobierno de Unidad Nacional», explicando: «No participé en la organización de la agenda de la reunión. El gobierno la organizó y yo transmití el mensaje».
Mangoush confirmó que la reunión era secreta por motivos de seguridad y estratégicos relacionados con los recursos de Libia, considerando que el Gobierno de Unidad Nacional se había abstenido debido a la falta de sabiduría e incapacidad para abordar la crisis después de que se filtrara la reunión, y negó que la reunión tuviera algo que ver con la normalización.
Reveló que su encuentro con la parte israelí se limitó a un marco específico y que fue franca sobre la causa palestina, diciendo: «Informé a Cohen sobre el punto de vista del pueblo libio y nuestros sentimientos de apoyo a los palestinos y rechazo a las políticas del gobierno israelí».

Protests against Libyan PM Dbeibah after Mangoush’s revelations about Israeli meeting

Angry protesters took to the streets on past Monday evening and in front of one of the houses of the Government of National Unity’s Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah,on Al-Shatt Road in the capital, Tripoli, following statements by dismissed Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush about her meeting with former Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in Rome in August 2023.
Other protests against Dbeibah were seen in the city of Misrata, demanding his removal, after Al-Mangoush linked her meeting with the Israeli minister to the government’s approval and arrangement.
Activists also reported on social media that protests had taken place in various areas of the country, during which protesters expressed their rejection of what they called “the collusion of the government and its prime minister” in the meeting of the former foreign minister with the former foreign minister of Israel, and demanded the removal of the prime minister and an investigation into these accusations.

She revealed that her meeting with the Israeli side was limited to a specific framework and that she was frank about the Palestinian Cause, saying: «I informed Cohen about the Libyan people’s point of view and our feelings in support of the Palestinians and rejection of the Israeli government’s policies.»
