The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Gustavo Matos, has sent a message of support and encouragement to La Palma when it has been a month since the volcanic eruption. «Our support to all the people affected by this catastrophe, to those who have been evicted from their homes, to those who remain in confinement, to those who have lost everything under the lava,» he says.
The president points out that it has been «a hard month, a drama like few of us have experienced on our islands, with the relief, however, that there has been no personal injury.»
Matos expresses the support and recognition of the Chamber to the emergency services, to all and all the experts, to the professionals of the scientific field, to the town councils of the island, Cabildo, volunteers, non-governmental organizations, bodies and security forces of the State, local police, Autonomous Police. «Thank you for an immense and tireless work that is allowing us to guarantee care and safety, work that is often invisible.»
The president highlights, on the other hand, the «unlimited solidarity» of the Canarian people. “La Palma is receiving a real avalanche of aid, a solidarity that does not stop a month later and that reaches the island every day from all corners of the archipelago. That solidarity, that support, that closeness, that accompaniment… all that is the Canary Islands, the Canary Islands of which we are so proud, the Canary Islands that never give up ”.
Gustavo Matos is confident that we will soon be able to say that the eruption is over. «Then, the Canary Islands will continue‘ all together ’with La Palma in the reconstruction process that will have to be faced.»
