Derbah highlights the effectiveness of the National and Local Police in fighting crime in Verónicas but emphasizes the need to extend interventions to other sectors, especially in nightlife venues.
Mohamed Jamil Derbah, a diplomat and businessman with a notable background in international advisory roles for several African countries, has expressed his appreciation for the work of the National Police and the Local Police of Arona for their recent efforts in the Verónicas area, one of the most problematic zones in the south of Tenerife. Derbah described the police work in this area as «commendable,» noting significant progress in the fight against criminal activity and a substantial improvement in security.
However, Derbah pointed out that, although the actions taken so far have been very positive, there is a need to expand efforts to other areas of the island’s south, where security-related issues are also present. He specifically mentioned that nightlife venues deserve greater attention, as some establishments outside Verónicas may require similar interventions to prevent potential criminal activity and ensure a safer environment for residents and tourists.
The businessman expressed full confidence in the authorities and the justice system, stating that he is convinced the few remaining issues will be resolved. He therefore encouraged law enforcement to continue working with the same diligence, extending their actions to other areas that also require effective intervention.
