The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, stressed the need to regulate the procedures of commercial agencies and scrutinize mechanisms for issuing trademarks, in order to enhance transparency and prevent violations that could harm the national economy.
This came during a meeting he chaired at the Cabinet Office on Sunday, attended by Acting Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, the Chairman of the Investment Promotion and Privatization Authority, and the Head of the Commercial Registry Authority.
Dbeibah directed the suspension of all exemptions for fish exports amid rising local prices, emphasizing that consumer protection remains a top priority for the Government of National Unity.
The meeting was dedicated to discussing plans and programs aimed at stimulating the investment climate and improving commercial registry services. The registry authority presented its plan to reorganize the national and local commercial registries to ensure updated data, simplified procedures, and better integration among its offices across various cities.
The discussions also covered the digital commercial registry project and ongoing steps to develop a comprehensive investment map designed to attract both domestic and foreign investments and to strengthen partnerships with the private sector.
The meeting further addressed the outcomes of Dbeibah’s talks with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya regarding the indicative import budget, with a focus on coordination mechanisms to ensure that import credits are directed toward maintaining economic stability and meeting local market needs.
Dbeibah also ordered the preparation of a joint executive plan between the Ministry of Economy, the Investment Promotion Authority, and the Commercial Registry Authority to facilitate foreign investment procedures according to a clear timeline.
