The Libyan government leader tours flood-affected areas to assess damage and coordinate emergency measures, ensuring citizens’ welfare and the restoration of critical services.

Libyan Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hamad visited the municipality of Slouk today as part of an extensive tour of regions affected by heavy rainfall that has battered the country in recent days. Traveling from the city of Agdabia, Dr. Hamad arrived in the area to assess firsthand the extent of the damage and oversee emergency operations.

During his visit, the Prime Minister inspected the condition of infrastructure impacted by the flooding, including roads and drainage systems that have suffered severe damage due to the rainfall. To coordinate immediate responses, he met with representatives of ministries, state-owned companies, and agencies responsible for water and sewage management.

Dr. Hamad also held direct discussions with affected residents, listening to their concerns and assuring them that swift measures are being implemented to address the crisis. Key actions include clearing blocked roads, draining accumulated water, and restoring essential services.

“The safety and well-being of our citizens are our top priorities. We are working tirelessly to repair the damage and ensure that affected communities can return to normalcy as soon as possible,” Dr. Hamad stated in remarks to local media.

Government efforts are also focused on strengthening capacities to respond to future climate emergencies, a growing challenge in Libya due to the effects of climate change.

This visit underscores the Libyan government’s commitment to supporting its most vulnerable communities as the nation faces an increasingly complex meteorological and humanitarian landscape.
