Libyan Prime Minister, Dr. Osama Hamad, inaugurated the new headquarters of the Personal Security and Public Ceremonies Service on Thursday, during a ceremony held in Benghazi. This body, created to ensure the protection of senior officials and manage protocol events for the Council of Ministers, plays a key role in the ongoing reform of the country’s security institutions.

The inauguration was attended by prominent government figures, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Commissioner for International Cooperation, Dr. Abdul Hadi Al-Hawij, as well as the head of the service, Dean Abdul Rahman Al-Jarah. Several members of the Cabinet were also present, emphasizing the significance of the event in the government’s agenda.

The Personal Security and Public Ceremonies Service was originally established under Cabinet Resolution No. 44 of 2024, with its structure later amended by Resolution No. 390 of the same year. This body, which has financial independence and reports directly to the Cabinet, symbolizes the Libyan government’s efforts to enhance its security mechanisms and ensure the safety of its officials in a politically and socially fragile context.

In his speech, Osama Hamad underscored the importance of this service in maintaining national stability, noting that the personal security of leaders and the proper organization of public events are essential for the government to function efficiently.

The opening of this headquarters comes at a time of political transition in Libya, where authorities are seeking to consolidate governmental control after years of conflict and internal divisions. With this initiative, Hamad’s government appears to be reinforcing its security and protection institutions in an effort to stabilize the political landscape and strengthen trust both locally and internationally.

The launch of this new service also reflects the growing need for specialized security measures in a country that continues to face challenges in its reconstruction process after a decade of instability.
