In an effort to modernize its media landscape and enhance access to information, the Libyan government inaugurated the new Libyan Digital Media Center in Benghazi on October 29. Leading the ceremony on behalf of Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hamad, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Al-Qatrani highlighted the center’s importance in promoting democracy and freedom of expression in a shifting global context.

The inauguration, attended by senior officials and sector leaders, was organized by the Libyan Media Foundation in collaboration with members of the House of Representatives, the Central Bank, and several national ministries. The center will feature advanced technology and an innovative broadcasting platform to improve the quality of digital media and foster civic engagement in Libya.

During the event, Foundation President Mohamed Bayu emphasized the central role of the new facility in establishing a modern voice for Libya, with a focus on community communication and state-of-the-art technology integration. According to Bayu, the project will serve to actively engage society in addressing both local and international issues—a critical step in Prime Minister Hamad’s strategy to promote digital development and consolidate democratic values in the region.
