Prime Minister Osama Hamad convenes top officials to chart urgent solutions for the country’s deteriorating electricity network

In a decisive move to address Libya’s worsening energy crisis, Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hamad hosted an emergency meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister with senior national officials to discuss the state of the country’s electrical grid and to establish immediate and long-term solutions.
Attending the high-level talks were His Excellency Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Issa Al-Aribi, Chairman of the Energy Committee of the Council; Omar Tantoush, Head of the Energy Committee; Engineer Balqasim Haftar, Director General of the Libyan Reconstruction and Development Fund; Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Awad Al-Badri; and Minister of Investment, Ali Al-Saeedi Tamhida.



The meeting focused on identifying the key structural and operational challenges facing Libya’s power sector, including generation deficits, network failures, and infrastructure degradation. The officials agreed on launching an immediate action plan that includes strategic investments, enhanced institutional coordination, and short-term emergency measures to ensure energy supply continuity across the country.
This emergency summit represents a crucial step toward stabilizing Libya’s energy infrastructure, a core pillar for national recovery, economic revitalization, and future foreign investment.
