Both Leaders Highlight African Cooperation as a Central Pillar for Stability and Development

The Prime Minister of the Government of Libya, Dr. Osama Hamad, held an extensive meeting with the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Omar Sisoko Imbalo, accompanied by his delegation and several Libyan ministers. During this meeting, both parties emphasized the depth of bilateral relations and the importance of cooperation among African nations.
During the meeting, President Imbalo highlighted the significance of his visit and the need to strengthen the partnership in political, economic, and social fields. He also expressed his gratitude for the decision to open a Guinea-Bissau consulate in Benghazi, marking a significant step in consolidating the relationship between both nations.



For his part, Prime Minister Osama Hamad reaffirmed Libya’s recognition of the support provided by Guinea-Bissau in international and African conferences, as well as its backing of national reconciliation efforts and the initiatives of the African Union. In this regard, he stressed the need to seek solutions for Libya from within the African continent, avoiding external interference.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of African cooperation in security and stability, particularly in key areas such as economic development, combating extremism, terrorism, and irregular migration.



President Imbalo expressed his support for the Libyan people and emphasized the urgency of a free electoral process. He also highlighted that resolving the Libyan crisis is a shared responsibility of all African Union members and reiterated his commitment to a resolution based on African principles.
Finally, the creation of joint ministerial committees was announced to coordinate cooperation in various fields, further solidifying the commitment of both countries to work together for a stable and prosperous future. Imbalo also praised the warm reception and hospitality extended by the Libyan government and people during his visit.
