TheChairman of theForeignAffairs and International CooperationCommittee of theHouse of Representatives, Youssef Al-Agouri, accompaniedbytheRapporteur of theForeignAffairsCommittee, Mohammed Tamer, metwiththeItalianConsul General in Benghazi, Francesco De Luigi, at theheadquarters of theHouse of Representatives to exchangeviewsonissues of jointinterest.
Al-Agourisaidduringthe meeting, according to whatwasstatedbytheofficialspokesman of theHouse of Representatives, AbdullahBlehiq, theimportance of cooperation in theimmigration file and benefitingfromItaliansupportprograms in a number of fields, includingthecoastalroadconstructionproject, and cooperation in fishingactivities.
He alsostressed he wasfollowing up ontheissue of Libyanyouthimprisoned in Italy, pointingouttheimportance of thisissue, and reiteratingthekeenness of theHouse of Representatives to enhancecoordinationwiththeItaliansideonthisissue.
TheRapporteur of theForeignAffairsCommitteestressedtheimportance of expandingItaliancooperationprograms in thesouth, especially in thefield of agriculture, and thenecessity of opening consular affairsservices in thecity of Sabha to facilitatetravelprocedures, extendinganinvitation to theItalianConsul to visitthesouth.
TheItalianConsulexplainedhiscountry’sefforts to alleviatetheimmigration crisis throughtheMattei Plan, expressinghisdesire to visitthesouth and cooperate to open a consulate in thecity of Sabha, and stressingtheimportance of continuouscoordinationbetweenthetwocountries in allfields.
