Marshal Khalifa Haftar, General Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, hosted a high-level meeting with sheikhs, elders, and dignitaries from the Fazan tribes in the military city that bears his name. The meeting was attended by key figures from the eastern-based government, including Prime Minister Osama Hamad, Chief of General Staff Khalid Haftar, and Director of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Balqasim Haftar.

During the gathering, tribal leaders expressed their full support for the Armed Forces, praising their role in maintaining national security and stability. They also commended Marshal Haftar for his continued engagement with local communities and his commitment to national reconciliation initiatives.

In his remarks, Haftar highlighted the strategic importance of southern Libya and praised the Fazan tribes for their historical and national role. He emphasized their active participation in a broad-based national movement aimed at addressing the root causes of Libya’s political crisis. The Marshal called for a unified national vision and proposed a people-driven roadmap to lay the foundations for a prosperous and politically independent future for the Libyan people.
The meeting is widely viewed as a strategic move by Haftar to expand his tribal and popular base amid ongoing tensions between Libya’s rival administrations in the east and west. The visible involvement of Haftar family members in key government and institutional roles reflects a growing consolidation of power that extends beyond the military sphere into political and economic influence.
