The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, on Tuesday led the inauguration of several infrastructure projects in the city of Ajdabiya, accompanied by Prime Minister Osama Hamad and the Director of the Reconstruction and Development Fund, Belqasem Haftar. The initiative is part of the national plan to revitalize essential services, improve mobility, and strengthen territorial cohesion.

Among the projects unveiled were the central Ajdabiya bridge, which connects the country’s main east–west highway, and the Ajdabiya–Tabraq bridge, both designed to ease traffic congestion and improve transport in this strategic city in eastern Libya. These works are part of a wider reconstruction program aimed at raising the standard of living and driving regional economic growth.

The ceremony brought together representatives of the House of Representatives, the Supreme Council of State, senior military officials, ministers, development agency leaders, and local elders, underlining the coordination between Libya’s political and military institutions.

During the event, Prime Minister Osama Hamad emphasized that infrastructure progress “would not be possible without the stability achieved under Field Marshal Haftar’s leadership and the sacrifice of the Armed Forces.” He also praised the role of the Reconstruction and Development Fund, which has led projects in conflict- and disaster-affected cities such as Derna, and now in Ajdabiya, considered a vital link between Libya’s regions.

Haftar, in his address, stressed that the rebuilding of Ajdabiya reflects the determination to turn the city into a beacon of progress and a symbol of Libya’s recovery after years of instability. “These projects not only modernize infrastructure, but also reinforce our national unity and open new opportunities for development for future generations,” he stated.

With these works, Ajdabiya strengthens its role as a strategic hub in the broader reconstruction plan that seeks to lay the foundations for a safer and more sustainable future for Libya.
