Fuerza Canaria, a recently created party established in the South of Tenerife, begins its
journey in the municipality of Arona in a clear and emphatic way. And it does so by
naming Emilio Lentini as a candidate for mayor.
The Fuerza Canaria candidate is not unknown in Arona. We are talking about a person
committed to civil society, who has been president of the Red Cross, who belongs to the
platform for the Hospital del Sur, and who chairs a citizen association, Grupasca.
Emilio Lentini has always been linked to municipal politics and in his personal facet, he
is a willful and determined athlete. His work is widely recognized for having led various
actions in defense of the interests of the citizenry, not only in the centers where he
carries out his activity, but in general, in all the neighborhoods of Arona, demonstrating,
over the years , a strong commitment to the aroneros and aroneras.
In a gesture of coherence with the political project he leads, the Fuerza Canaria
candidate has announced in a promotional video that he is giving up having a salary as
mayor, given his commitment to public management and that his tenure as mayor is not
onerous for the citizens.
Lentini will not go alone in this new journey, since it is a popular-based initiative, to
achieve a change in municipal politics, not from confrontation, but from consensus. He
affirms that «I do not come to fight with others, but to seek agreements, consensus, all
for the sake of Arona once again being the most important municipality in the south and
a paradise for residents and visitors.»
Arona is affected by problems that no one solves due to the situation of permanent
blockade due to power struggles, the main victim of this paralysis being the population
of Arona, which has to pay the piper to the City Council. Consequently, we will
promote a new modernization plan as well as the resolution of traffic, health, sports,
culture problems and the current neglect of the families that need it most»…»Every day I
meet people who have been abandoned by the mayor and the municipal corporation and
that they would like things to work in the same way as in other towns, such as Adeje”.
The candidate is working on creating a team of men and women from Arona who will
accompany him, which confirms the inclusive spirit of this new party, a political option
destined to produce that profound change longed for by all.
The entrance of Los Cristianos and the chaos of traffic, his first big measure
First the complaint. Garbage, abandonment and a landscape full of billboards, is the first
image that tourists receive upon their arrival in Los Cristianos after leaving the South
highway.
Different municipal governments of Arona have promised on various occasions to put
an end to the increase in billboards in the access to the tourist center from the airport
and to definitely improve the image of what is possibly the most important tourist spot
on the Islands.
However, this has not happened. And the remains of advertisements lying on the side of
the road cause a feeling of abandonment that thousands of people see every day and that
give an example of the disastrous and ineffective current government group.
Then the commitment. That is why the candidate of Fuerza Canaria, Emilio Lentini,
visited the roundabout at the entrance to Los Cristianos accompanied by several
engineers and technicians, since one of his priorities as mayor will be to put out to
tender a plan to eradicate the endless queues that occur in the zone.
In this roundabout, thousands of vehicles converge, collapsing the entrance and exit of
Los Cristianos, and especially, the numerous heavy vehicles and delivery trucks that
head towards the Port.
He affirms that «once I take possession of the Arona mayor’s office, I will immediately
launch the project competition to solve this absolute chaos and its execution will be
immediate, together with the tunnel works that will link the Port of Los Cristianos with
the South highway to ease traffic congestion inside the area”.
And it won’t be the first or the last.
