La embajada de Estados Unidos en Libia anunció una reunión entre el comandante del
Comando de Estados Unidos en África (AFRICOM), Michael Langley, acompañado
por el encargado de negocios de la embajada, Jeremy Berndt, y Khalifa Haftar en
Bengasi, para discutir el compromiso de Estados Unidos con fortaleciendo su
asociación con libios de todo el país.
Durante la reunión, Langley destacó la importancia de mantener la estabilidad y la
desescalada de Libia a la luz de las «tensiones actuales».
La delegación estadounidense llamó a todas las partes libias a participar
constructivamente en un diálogo apoyado por la Misión de Apoyo de las Naciones
Unidas en Libia y la comunidad internacional.
Berndt destacó la importancia de esta visita y señaló que él y Langley se reunirían con

The US embassy in Libya announced a meeting between the Commander of the US
Africa Command (AFRICOM) Michael Langley, accompanied by the Chargé
d’Affaires of the Embassy, Jeremy Berndt, and Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi, to
discuss the US commitment to strengthening its partnership with Libyans from all
over the country.
During the meeting, Langley stressed the importance of maintaining Libya’s
stability and deescalation in light of the «current tensions.»
The US delegation called on all Libyan parties to participate constructively in a
dialogue supported by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the
international community.
Berndt stressed the importance of this visit, noting that he and Langley would
meet with «defense and security leaders» in the West and East of Libya to discuss
how the US can contribute to unifying the Libyan military forces and securing the
country’s sovereignty.
The media office of Haftar’s forces said that Haftar welcomed the visit of the US
delegation, stressing the importance of enhancing coordination and joint
cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.
The media office explained that «the meeting discussed the importance of
developing the partnership between the two countries in a way that serves common
goals and interests, and exchanging expertise in the military and security fields.»
