The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena has welcomed 36 people who have
incorporated into an employment program that places special emphasis on social services

The Arona City Council, through the Economic Promotion area, has welcomed the 36 new workers who have joined the labor market thanks to the agreement "Plan to support the local economy of Arona", developed by the area of Economic Promotion and financed by the Cabildo de Tenerife, with a total budget of 474,539 euros.
The reception was held at the Cabo Blanco Civic Center with the assistance of the Mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena; the Councilor for Economic Promotion and Employment, Raquel García; the councilor for Citizen Participation, Ruth Lorenzo, and the councilor for Tourism and Historical Heritage, José Alberto Delgado.
With these new additions, 277 people have participated this year in the employment programs promoted in Arona, surpassing the 235 beneficiaries of last year.
The new employees will be incorporated into the different councils of the City Council, with special emphasis on work in social services, the elderly, prevention of gender violence in educational centers or dependencies, as well as in commercial areas.
The total number of participants in this program was 72 for a total of 36 places, with two people for each one, who have been part of a training program, so that, finally, those who have obtained the best scores have been incorporated.
The profiles are of graduates in psychology (4), social workers (2), sports monitors (8), community manager (2), business facilitators (2), a lawyer, a social educator, an agricultural foreman, an agricultural laborer and 14 access controllers.
José Julián Mena: "An effort in human resources"
The mayor of Arona has pointed out that “from the City Council of Arona an important effort has been made in the matter of human resources, with the incorporation of diverse professional profiles. However - he added - plans like this benefit neighbors with qualified professional profiles and fill a void left by years of restrictions in public procurement. At the beginning of the pandemic - the mayor has had an influence - I said that we would go as far legally and budgetary as possible to deploy a social shield and programs like this are part of that strategy”.
