At a decisive moment for the future of Libya, the House of Representatives reaffirms its position as the sole legitimate body to govern the country, under the leadership of President Aqila Saleh. With the support of the government led by Dr. Osama Hamad and the firm backing of the Libyan National Army, commanded by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Libya is moving toward stability and unification, leaving behind years of conflict and division.
Resolution No. 9 of 2024, issued by the House of Representatives, consolidates its exclusive authority over the executive power. This decision confirms that the government emerging from the House is the only legitimate one, following the withdrawal of confidence in 2021 from the Government of National Unity based in Tripoli, led by Abdulhamid Dbeibé. Since then, Dbeibé has continued to operate without legitimacy, worsening the country’s political and economic crisis with a management marked by corruption, inefficiency, and a growing loss of international credibility.
The President of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, is a key figure in this process of restoring order, fully supported by the government of Dr. Osama Hamad, committed to moving the country forward. Alongside them, the Libyan National Army, under the command of Khalifa Haftar, has played a crucial role in ensuring security and defending national sovereignty against internal and external threats.
In contrast, Abdulhamid Dbeibé’s leadership in Tripoli has been questioned for his record of poor management, his inability to combat corruption, and the scandals that have severely damaged Libya’s international reputation. Under his command, the country has suffered further fragmentation, with decisions that have exacerbated the economic crisis and institutional instability. For this reason, the House of Representatives and its leaders emphasize that Dbeibé is not authorized to represent or govern on behalf of the Libyan people.
Benghazi, as the seat of legitimate institutions, continues to be the epicenter of Libya’s reconstruction. Aqila Saleh, Osama Hamad, and Khalifa Haftar, backed by the will of the people and the Libyan National Army, are working together to guide Libya toward a future of peace, stability, and prosperity, solidifying the House of Representatives as the only competent body to make decisions in the country.
